Château de Rouffiac is :
a Grand Cahors Wine
Chateau de Rouffiac is on the outskirts of the Puy l'Évêque
towards Duravel. To the East is nearly 40 hectares of forest, to
the West, the Chateau de Rouffiac is surrounded by 6.6 hectares
of vines including some of the best soils in the appellation.
The vines on the Rouffiac estate are planted on 3rd clay-silica
terraces, facing south/south-west and are comprised of 80% Cot,
10% Merlot and 10% Tannat.
A propitious land for growth and ageing wine, and its exceptional
location enable Chateau de Rouffiac to produce some of the greatest
wine in Cahors.
The vines are hand-harvested and the wine is made using traditional
methods, which help it retain its fruity flavours.
The Chateau de Rouffiac has 3 cuvées :
- "La Grange",
- "La Passion"
- "L'Exception"
"L'Exception" :
Vinified and aged in new casks for 16 months, it produces 20 hectolitres
per hectare, cuvee Malbec (Auxerre), it has a shiny robe, purple
with hints of violet.
It has a very powerful and complex nose, with grilled hints and
hints of chocolate, black cherries and already smooth tannins. Aroma
of kirsch and hints of toast.
